The Perfect Job is Working for Yourself and Making Money
Are you like spongeBob happy to go to work?
Although the most predictable decision for most people would be to find a career that will pay them a lot of money, or a job that will pay enough to get by; neither is the correct answer! Take a good look at most people with a job, are they happy to be there everyday? I guarantee that the answer is a big “NO”, why? Because they are working to get what they want, not working because they love what they do for a living. Now if you could find something that you love to do and make money while you're doing it, then it will not feel like a job anymore.
If you keep on thinking like everyone does, then you will find yourself in the same boat as everybody else doing whatever everybody does. Take a look around you; do you see the majority with a lot of money, or are they living on debts accumulated from mortgages, credit lines, credit cards, and loans? They basically signed on the dotted line agreeing to be slaves to their homes, cars, and toys.
Now let us see...How many hours do they have a year to enjoy these things? Three measly weeks of holidays, and a few sick days they took to maintain their sanity from the work pressures! This sounds sad doesn't it?
If you are like “SpongeBob Square Pants” the cartoon character; you get up in the morning, and enjoy being at your job, Congratulations! You have chosen right. But if you are like Squidward , who hates being there, then you must keep on looking for the job that will make you happy.
So if most people are not where they want to be, why do they keep on doing it and then advise others to do the same?! Somebody told me once; that he had bought a big house and he could not afford to go on vacations and take his kids to fun places anymore because he was paying a bigger mortgage. His friend on the other hand was living in a smaller house and was able to travel, and take his own kids places. So he decided to convince his friend to buy a bigger home so he too would be miserable like him.
Have you heard of the term “Misery loves company”?
Just because people do things in a certain way, it doesn't mean it’s the right way. Getting a job is fine and dandy, but wouldn't you rather work with something you enjoy doing?
You must think outside the box. This means you must think of something to do that the majority of people are not doing. For example; you love gardening and you are currently working as a programmer in a large company. You could start your own landscaping business, or have an organic farm, or maybe open a plant nursery. But it is hard to think that after so many years of investing your time money and energy that all of a sudden you could throw it away and start in a completely different direction.
Another factor that plays a role in your decision is your ego. Stature is valued in society and if you are striving to get the big title that says “I’m important”, then you put a lot of weight on what others think, and this will keep you shackled to your job that you don’t like so much. The idea here is self employment.
The smart individual will start planning for the new direction before quitting the job. Give this idea some thought then do your research in whatever your interest may lay. If you find a way to generate income using this idea, then you are on your way to freedom.
The choice is yours; you could stay in your current job and wait till retirement to enjoy your life, considering that you may or may not reach retirement status, or you could do a job switch and enjoy your life right now. No one knows what the future holds, but one thing is certain, you are living in the now.
