Cat owners around the world admit to feeling much happier when petting their cats; they are great companions of comfort. Allergic reactions to cats is not only physical, but it can also be symbolic to the kind of emotional relationship you are having trouble processing. Cats provide a certain love, loyalty and deep connection to people. If you are not ready for this type of a companionship, your body will react to it in rejection.
Just like people cats’ personalities are different from each other; they usually have the same basic interests, but their actions and reaction towards you, and other animals are different. Some are so gentle loving, trusting and want to be with you constantly, others are more nervous, rambunctious, with attitude, and have very little tolerance to obeying house rules.
You might say well it is because of the owner! Although in some cases this might be true, I’d like to differ, only because of my experience with cats. I own two beautiful calico cat sisters; they were born together, they were adopted together, they were raised together, and yet they are so different in their behaviour that sometimes you might think they are not from the same species; this leads me to believe that the personality traits come from the maturity of the soul not the physical aspect of reality. |
Having a pet cat in your life is precious, but there are quite a number of factors you must keep in mind. Cats love to massage their claws by scratching at specific materials around the house. So if you have leather furniture, looped carpets, or anything that dangles from the clothes or ornaments could get damaged by the cat’s claws. Try to provide scratching posts close to the areas that they chose to do their scratching. They do shed their fur, so expect to have hair around the house, but a little brushing and vacuuming will go a long way to keeping things under control. They are very clean animals; if you keep their litter box clean they will always use it without fail. Cats don’t require a lot of food; unless you want them look like “Garfield” the cat. It is not humane to declaw a cat for many reasons; it’s a very painful process, and you will take away the only defence mechanism they have against predators, and dogs. I have heard of many declawed cats that snuck out when the owner is not paying attention and became vulnerable to dangers.

When you choose to introduce a cat or a kitten into your life, it is like receiving a wild card; you don’t know what you've got until you reveal all. Having a pet in the house is a treasure you cannot replace by materialistic possessions, the love you get from them is priceless.
